What are her rights? verbal abuse case?

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
jogfam asked:

This is the case…(questions at the end). im trying to help her go back to her country, The husband is usa citizen, he traveled to south. america to marry this 22 y woman. They came to northen.california as husband and wife. sudenly he became another person, he rented a room for her, most of the time she was alone, she was verbally abused, she was provided with one meal a day, she was not allowed to make calls, and didnt know the neighborhood. She was told she could be deported since she was not a resident yet. Her parents mailed her a cell phone from her country and she was finally able to call for help and leave this place. She is very scared, she doesnt have permit to work in USA.

can she get a temporary permit to work to be able to buy a ticket to go back to her country, she wants to stay and get the divorce before going back? Laws in her country are different, she is afraid to go back being married, since the law wont protect her from domestic violence.

Bloated Whale asked:

We know there is mental abuse going on with my fiancee’s daughter because she is denied visits with him and his ex and she’s not allowed to see her halfsiblings, and she’s told that her parents don’t want to come see her. How can mental abuse be proved so they can win their court case?

Psychological Abuse

Thursday, March 19th, 2009
Peter Gitundu asked:

Psychological Abuse, which is also known as emotional abuse is when a person harms another person through emotional or mental anguish which is psychologically harmful. People always say that “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”, but words do hurt people because there are different kinds of people in the world.

Emotional abuse is happening everywhere and there are various forms of it. Most common of these abuses would be work related abuse where you get shouted at all the time and end up getting stressed, which usually ends up turning for the worst where you end up becoming sick mentally as well as physically.

Another form of emotional abuse which is also common would be child abuse where you find the parents or parent has abused the child mentally and physically and you will probably not know it because the child will find a way to hide it and this child tends to grow up an abusive parent as well.

Other forms of abuse would be relationship abuse, bigotry, racial oppression and group psychological abuse. There is also community based harassment which is also referred to as stalking. It is important that if we see any form of psychological abuse happening that we try to intervene and stop it from going any further.

Many of the people who have suffered any form of psychological abuse can be healed by some form of psychiatric technique or by psychotherapy as long as they are given a safe haven and environment, where they can heal without any forms of abuse or stress. It does take longer for the older folks who are usually put in a quiet home to heal but in the long run it does help all.

Emotional Rollercoaster? Emotional Abuse?

Monday, November 17th, 2008
Shinai asked:

Hi. i’m currently involved with a guy for a little over a yr. when we have a good time, he’s so sweet.. But when I say no to him for sex, we argue, andfor many hours. He starts using guilt trips, saying hes always been screw over and this is what he gets for being a good boyfriend. Usually, he’s decent, and looks out for my best interest, but in two weeks go by, and we cant be imtimate, his anger rises. (We dont live together) but if i say no to sex for whatever rweason, he gets so mad, he yells, cursees, punches furniture, but he doesnt touvh me. Even if we are at his house and his parents are home, he still yells at me, and curses while his mother is there. He then cries, because he is so “sexually frustrated” and continues with the guilt trips. I wanted to know if using guilt is a form of emotional abuse, and also believeing that if he doesnt have sex within a week, he’ll go crazy, and hurt someone. I already know I should leave, and I’m working on it..
